Round terracotta baking dish, crafted in Portugal using ancestral methods but designed with clean, simple lines free of folkloric embellishments.

Terracotta cookware is renowned for providing gentle, even cooking that preserves natural flavors and enhances the taste of food. In addition, terracotta retains heat for a long time, which is perfect for serving meals at the table while keeping them warm.

Here, the terracotta is glazed, preventing the absorption of fats and liquids. This makes the dish healthier, easier to clean, and more resistant to stains.

The use of local clay from the Alentejo and the entirely manual production in a century-old workshop guarantee the ethical and environmentally friendly character of this piece.

When you choose a piece from this remarkable collection, you’ll have the privilege of owning a red clay item handcrafted by José Alves, one of the last potters still using local terracotta.

This family pottery business, whose roots date back to his great-great-grandfather, continues in the same place. "I thought the continuity of our workshop was at risk, but one of my daughters came to lend a hand...," he recalls with emotion.

Red clay, known as "Olaria de barro vermelho," is particularly suited to making functional tableware and is ideal for preparing spectacular stews: "In a terracotta pot, the meat becomes exceptionally tender," says José Alves, a testament to his expertise and love for his craft.
