Formerly used for washing clothes, pink soap was reintroduced in all Portuguese households thanks to its effectiveness in combating the spread of influenza A in 2009. It is, indeed, an excellent soap with natural antiseptic properties.
Today, it is once again widely used as a hand disinfectant but also for washing the whole body as it is very anti-allergic. Blue soap is made with vegetable fats, coconut oil and olive oil.
