simple & authentic Portuguese restaurant O'Carloto!

You look for a typical and simple Portuguese restaurant ? O'Carloto!

5 minutes from the famous Guincho Beach, 10 minutes from Cascais, 30 minutes from Lisbon, in the small village of Areia, stands a typical restaurant, a little far from tourist areas and mainly frequented by Portuguese people! O Carloto is one of my favorite canteens!

Don't expect a sophisticated, stylish and felted atmosphere. No commercial tricks here! You are in a family restaurant without unnecessary decoration where the only things that matter are kindness and the quality/price ratio.

In this restaurant, all the traditional Portuguese dishes are made from fresh products, cooked simply, without artifice and exclusively from the region: Here when you come out of a storm, there are no fish and that's all! You will enjoy there all the popular Portuguese culinary traditions: "Arroz de Polvo", "Caril de Gambas", "Polvo à la Lagareiro" and of course several recipes with "Bacalhau".

For those who prefer meat, don't worry, the "bife" are copious, prepared "A casa", "Com natas e cogumelos" or "A Carloto" and served with "batatas fritas".
I particularly recommend the fresh fish simply grilled in front of you, served with an assortment of vegetables, and seasoned with a very simple olive oil. Preferably choose sea fish and leave out farmed fish.

Here, my favorites are: the sea bream (Dourado do mar), the sea bass (Robalho do mar)

The prices? 25 euros will be enough for 2 guests. If you "insist" a little on wine, count 30 euros.
Ah, one last word... If you go to O' Carloto, please say hello to Bruno from Luisa!
To get there: It is in the heart of the small village of Areia, here is the address: O' Carloto I R. Areia 1434 I 2750-052 Cascais and the phone number is: 214 869 014
